Nazaré (1 of 5)




Nazaré is not located on this coast but it's just about 100 Kms north of Lisbon. This traditional fishing town became world famous when Garrett McNamara surfed the wave shown below.

The first picture makes me think of Santorini. Obviously, a very calm day when you shot these. Is huge surf common there? Never heard of surf so high even on The Pipeline on northern Oahu,

What an amazingly wide, beautiful beach! But those winter waves are downright scary—though gorgeous in their own way.
