@Lowell, regarding your question, let me tell you a story: When I was visiting the Amazon I met a group of four American tourists; one of them had already visited 90 countries and had only been robbed once. Guess where. At Alfama district in Lisbon! LOL! Apart from this, the neighbourhood is always so crowded with tourists nowadays that I think it's perfectly safe for you to walk with a camera in your hand. I do it all the time (not at night) but, of course, bad things can happen anywhere...
i am really loving the pictures you show of portugal, this one as an example. i must save money to go visit portugal someday. it's not too expensive for tourists is it?
It is a lovely and picturesque place, despite the decay on one building. I appreciated your response to Lowell. There is potential danger everywhere, from the poorest to the richest areas, so personally I don't worry much but try to be aware of my surroundings.

A torre da igrejinha é linda! Que dia maravilhoso de céu azul!

A bit of decay can even help the nearby buildings...
As long as the food is good, I won't worry about the decay of the buildings.
Looks like a great place to eat in spite of the decay! Wonderful capture as always, JM!! Hope you enjoy a lovely weekend!

Lisbon is a city of contrasts and you captured that beautifully here! I guess shade is important when it's been as warm as 27 degrees!
Is that a safe area for a photographer to be operating in?
It's amazing how the decay can exist beside such beautifully maintained buildings.
What gorgeous buildings and lovely weather.

It would be nice to have lunch here.
Por ese barrio estuvimos:))
Nunca hemos tenido problemas de robos en Portugal y vamos mucho.
Es un bonito rincón, de esos que abundan en La Alfama.
Tengo que volver a Lisboa. Siempre me ha gustado mucho..

Today's and yesterday's photos are lovely.

And it's searingly intense. I have a vague memory of the Alfama from our one visit years ago.
What beautiful quality of light and composition - and of course, no one captures decay like you!:)
I love your Lisbon!
And I like the red house.
Hugs
What a lovely place! Beautiful clours.
