Something Weird Happened Here

An awful hailstorm hit the Lisbon area early this morning. The noise was incredible and scary! Hours later, I can still find ice balls among my tropical plants.

Below is a web image of one of the most affected areas. Crazy - this is Lisbon!

The people on the bus seem to be looking with disbelief at the "snowplow."
Those hailstones are beautiful among the tropical plants. Were the plants damaged?

The weather has really gone crazy everywhere! It is a sad reflection of our environmental changes, sigh. (But you took a beautiful photo)

That is quite a lot of hail in your garden but, that second shot was down right shocking. Wow!

Hail has been known to do a lot of damage around here. Luckily we don't get it very often. I am amazed at the amount of hail that you got. Scary indeed!

Zounds! Those things can hurt. I would never expect that to happen in Lisbon but weird weather seems to be the pattern all over the world!

Wow, and not a drop of the white stuff here in NW England

That is an unbelievable amount of hail! It looks like a giant snow storm rather than hail. I hope your garden hasn't been too damaged!

That's incredible. I hope there wasn't too much damage, including to your plants...

OMG. We've had freak hail storms here too in the past, but nothing that drastic. This year we are experiencing the driest, warmest winter since they began keeping records in SoCal in 1877. You'd think it was summer. The weather/climate is definitely changing! Be careful out there!

The weather is so strange and unpredictable all around the world now. What an experience you had!

Weird indeed! I hope your plants survive the barrage.

Snow is bad enough but hail seems violent by comparison. That second shot is incredible. Time to take cover!

We get a couple of storms like that every summer somewhere in our area - golf-ball sized hailstones, sometimes hail a foot or more deep. They're not fun!

That must have been some storm.

You've been getting the strangest weather!

We get hailstorms here in Pasadena sometimes, but not with this kind of volume.

wow ! impressive !

The weather is doing odd things. While you were bombarded by ice balls, we were sweltering for five days over 40C while being the hottest city in the world and surrounded by wildfires.

When the hail really gets going, the sound can be scary! Where I live (Colorado mountains), hailstorms are common, but if you aren't used to them it can be very unnerving. Hopefully none of your property was damaged!

A captura ficou especial. Escutar barulhos que não se está acostumado a ouvir, vindos da natureza, pode ser aterrorizador.

Ooo. that is a lot of hail. But surely in your climate hail would be common, just not so much of it.
