Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição Velha

Downtown Lisbon

The original building dated back to 1534. It collapsed after the 1755 Great Earthquake and it was rebuilt in 1770. Many elements are reconstructed from the ruins.

My goodness, that's a lot of intricate and marvelous beauty. This building is older than the U.S. :)

Jose, this is wonderful. Its detail is awesome and is sad to think we just don't see buildings this in the 21st centaury.

You live in a wonderful place that still treasures things like this.... how lucky you are.

Its a good job it isn't in the middle east as it would have been bombed years ago. Enjoy it while you can and keep posting images such as this.

Very best regards
Dave

It looks like a Neoclassic original with a very Rococo restoration.

I speak some Spanish but no Portuguese. The Spanish is enough to figure out the title.
