Never mind the buildings, but your poor palm trees look so sad. :( Are they going to cut them down or is there a chance for recovery? My town recently invested a lot of money to plant rows and rows of mature palms. Now this month they had to put traps out for this pest, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus.
Very sad indeed, Jose! We have Asian beetle invaders her in Canada too but they are killing ash trees and evergreens. Not all global trading is a positive thing, I'm afraid!
Horrible, JM! As Eg said we have an Asian beetle attacking our ash trees and they have been cutting down thousands and thousands of them to try and stop the spread. I don't know if it is working.
Are there alternative trees that are resistant to the pest? The trees around the Arch would survive no for than a few more years for a similar reason. They have been all torn out and are being replaced.

I remember that post Jose, a dreadful outcome.
wow , impressive , hope they will save the others trees :)
@Dina: Yes, they will cut them down.
I also remember when you posted about that pest on the palm trees. A sad outcome!
Tristesse pure!
I remember reading about the reason for Italian's palm tree succumbing to that pest. Too bad!
That is very sad. We have an invasive 'bark beetle' that is killing our pine trees.
What a shame! Amazing the damage a few bugs can do...
Oh, this is SO SAD, Jose!! And what a dreadful loss!!

It's sad. But I have faith in nature, she knows what she's doing.
Oh really a sad tale. What's next? Are they going to replace them? Have they solved the problem and eradicated the beetles?
I'm not sure of the disease...in Florida, we've lost a lot of palms, too. They leaves turn yellow and then they die.
The buildings look a lot like the condos along Florida's east coast! :)
A dreadful problem. They're so small and yet they cause so much destruction.
Maravilhosa visão, amei!!!
Grande abraço

This is terrible. Florida has a tremendous number of palm trees. I haven't heard of the Asian beetles around here. I sure hope they stay away.

That is sad.
Uh oh. We went through that when I lived in the Midwest and Dutch elm disease swept in. It is very sad.
