"Paris Em Lisboa"

The iconic department store "Paris em Lisboa" (Paris in Lisbon) opened doors in 1888. A few years later Queen Amelia granted it the status of "Providers of the Royal Household".
Thanks to Portugal's neutrality, prominent figures in European societies became clients during WWII.
Opposite to other similar stores which, sadly, no longer exist, "Paris em Lisboa" has adapted itself to new lifestyles and consumption habits over the years.

Grand style!
I especially love the gold-leaf etched letters on the black glass.

Em Belém, Pará, houve uma loja chamada Paris n'América, hoje tombada.

Very stylish, indeed. Very few elegant stores remain here in the States outside of New York and LA. Of course, few can afford to shop in them. The rest of us must find our duds in the many franchises, all of which carry their own line of cheap apparel, or shopping on line. Oh, well, I suppose most of us wear jeans and T shirts anyway!

Lisbon is style, it speaks style, it reeks style, it's the home of style. Thus, I'm not surprised to find such a shop and I fully intend to visit this place when I visit Lisbon. Meanwhile, have a great week!

Stylish, elegant and very French. I've seen a couple of awnings like this in London, too, and I can think of one here in St. Louis.

Oh dear I have missed another theme day. Just can't get my act together at the moment. But it is lovely to pop in and visit my favourite blogs every now and then.
