'Blindness'

What I had in mind for this post was a repetition shot of the DVD covers, but I was not allowed to shoot inside the store (can you believe it?!), so I had to take a photo of the poster through the glass window, sorry about the reflections...
'Blindness' is a brilliant movie directed by my all time favourite, brasilian Oscar nomenee Fernando Meirelles ('City of God' and 'The constant gardener'), based on the novel by portuguese Nobel Prize winner (1988) José Saramago. Cinematography is absolutely fantastic and so are the performances of Julianne Moore and Gael Garcia Bernal.

Bom dia JM!
( eu não começo bem meu dia aqui se não ver um post seu !)

Wonderful movie indeed! I read the book too.I think Fernando Meirelles was very "faithful" to the book.
'Blindness' opened the Festival de Cannes last year with 5 minutes of applause! Was fantastic!

Kind Regards
Léia

The fact that you weren't allowed to photograph inside doesn't surprise me one little bit. It happens to me quite often. I've seen that film and enjoyed it very much.

You did a great job on the photo. I guess this is another movie I'm going to have to see!

Hi JM, thanks for stopping by my neck of the net! I see you do a good job of covering your local haunts too.

Appreciate it! Keep snapping and keep stopping by too. Paris is waiting for you!

Oh, Mark Ruffalo :)). You are better than I am when shooting through the glass window. This one is nice, only some light reflection on JM (Julianne More) slightly seen.
JM, from what I read, photographing things in Europe has been a serious issue nowadays. No big difference here, so I try to ask permission before. It just we always expect them to allow us to take photo, so when they refuse I say to myself, "they don't know what they just missed" :)).
I read one of Jose Saramago's book, Blindness.

I'm a huge Saramago fan but I haven't yet read Blindness. I'm still stuck on All the Names. I find him difficult reading; very intense and, at times, tiring. But well worth the while when I finally finish the book.

Blindness (the film) is on my list but never like it when I see the movie first. :-)

I love the desert photo, by the way. With the tiny regatta in the background. I miss Portugal. Will be visiting my mother there this summer. She lives out near Caldas.

I am definitely going to keep my eye out for this one so we don't miss it! We love the films of Meirelles that we've seen. Thanks, JM!
