Jeronimus Monastery is such a huge building that it's hard to get a proper photo of the whole thing, so here are some details (click to enlarge). Another couple of shots and information on this post.
il est magnifique, avec toutes ces statues. certains endroits, on dirait de la dentelle. it is splendid, with all these statues. certain places, they would say about the lace
Magnificent place! Great pictures JM! aiii que saudade!
Have a wonderful weekend there! Don't forget...be always happy! your friend Léia
Bellisimo! Due to an aesthetics class I'm taking, I can interpret why the building has 2 towers (influences from Cappadoccian monks, who basically put the basis to Catholic and Orthodox dogmas).
Intricate and ornate. When I look at buildings like this I wonder how they did it...how they had the time...and why are we not doing a better job with our moderm buildings!

Humans are capable of such magnificent achievement. Your photos give us a very good sense of the majesty of this architecture.
Boas fotos...passamos lá perto e já não admiramos a sua beleza.
JM, visita o meu blog, tens lá uma "distinção" para ti ;)
Leif Hagen,
The construction of the building dates from the late 15th/early 16th centuries.
You are surrounded by the most gorgeous architecture. Great shots, JM.
This is so incredible...I'm in awe! Great photos, too, JM. I'd love to spend a couple days there...can you get inside and wander around?
It is just so amazing to see building so very old--still in use--and this 'baby' country wasn't even thought of in 1450. WOW!! MB
Beautiful architecture , it is worth to enlarge the photos :)
Splendid !
It's magnificent. The detail is amazing!
Yes, why are buildings often so difficult to decently photograph? ;-) This is beautifully intricate. But where's the blue sky?
Huge and beautiful. I love it!
The amount of statues embedded into the walls is phenomenal. And the detail, too. Magnificent monastery.
