I love the pastels of Oeiras. This is a finely composed shot of the aqueduct, JM.
So was there water running through it or is there now? It is very neat and old looking. MB
And that carried water? It looks lovely.
I'd love to walk that street and explore the area. Great photo.
SCS and Marley,Yes, the aqueduct was the the water suply to the Palace in the 18th century. I don't believe it works anymore.
Looks fairly preserved... And it was the private water supply of the Palace? Quite decadent. (;
Beatifull view, nicely framed and as usual you've got great blue sky ! Is this aqueduct long ?
What an interesting piece of history nestled among the present-day.
Well-composed, perfect exposure, terrific light, and super colors...what more could you want...the photo entices. I'd love to wander about in those environs!
I wonder how old? It looks ancient.
Fabulous structure!I'm always fascinated with old architecture!Tenha uma ótima semana querido amigo!Léia
Lovely place. It's difficult to imagine how did those aqueducts work!
Dear JM,I saw your comment on my blog making some references to my "owners"... What do you mean? I own them!!!PurrsLuna
Very very antic! Beautiful photo. No chance to see sth like this in Poland. Thanks for sharing!
I love aquaducts, and this one is different from any that I've ever seen.
Amazing it is still there, after so many years...
what a great old aqueduct with such history and character. it is great that it still survives.
Now that's my kind of downtown! At first glance, it almost looked like a train car up there - windows and all.
A foto está excelente. É mais um local onde passo com regularidade :)
absolutely love this! The ruined bridge and the bright colors below. My fave of the day. Gorgeous angle. too
Beautiful scene of this extraordinary design of the architect, the aqueduct over the street, functionality plus harmony!
What is the aqueduct used for now? Interesting composition and area.
It is always so nice to know all about other world..Thanks for showing the lovely shots of Oeiras!
Is it used for anything today?
Seems like a real nice place to live, especially with some fresh water around! ... or maybe the aqueduct is out of order? :-)
Wow! It's tiny! I always think of aquaducts as huge!
Oeiras seems to be such a calming and restorative place... Thanks for sharing!
