S. Sebastião Chapel

Some of the 17th century tiles in the foreground must have been broken over the years and were replaced by others that simply don't match...

What a beautiful addition to this building, but I do see a few tiles that don't match. It's still very pleasing to the eye.

It's a pity but even a new form of art, or simply goodwill...

These tiles are probably one of a kind...and simply not available. But, most people probably wouldn't even notice.

It's very beautiful even with the mismatched tiles!

It is surprising that so many original tiles did survive so many hundreds of years.
Such an unusual chapel, nice.

That specific detail looks like something I could have managed! :) Overall, still a pretty picture and (like Jacob suggested) most of us would never have noticed.

You know what I'm thinking every time I visit your blog now - "is this what I'll see/visit" :)... I can't wait. Tiles on facade are very unusual (for me)... what's the origin? Is it originally Portuguese or from somewhere else and it stuck around as a good idea?

Very nice Chapel. I love the Blue Tiles of Portugal---mixed up or not. MB

I quite like the mismatched tiles. 17th century - hard to replace. Gorgeous building.

You're right, they don't match. Still a beautiful sight, though
