Luís Vaz de Camões (1524-1580) is considered Portugal's greatest poet. He is best remembered for his epic 'Os Lusíadas' (The Lusiads), a fantastic interpretation of the portuguese voyages of discovery during the 15th and 16th centuries, written in the homeric fashion after his return from the Indies.

From what you say, the bust seems very appropriate and does him honor.
belle composition sur la premiere photo, j'aime beaucoup
I like that you've shown him from the front and the back.
He looks very "Greek." I mean that as a compliment.
eu adoro Camões, adorei a estátua.
He appears to have an inspiring view! I wonder if he would like it.
He has a lovely view!
Interesting--I will have to read all about him. Thanks. MB
I like the angle of this shot, using both distance and perspective.
I have not heard of this poet, but he must have been quite accomplished and a credit to Portugal! I really like the first shot here, with the bust quite clear and sharp and the background lighted so well!
To be honest with you I've never heard about him.
The first photo is terrific!
I am sure he likes what he sees.
What a historic bust! WoW!
A beautiful bust for one of the greatest poets, who described in a peculiar way a magic period for his country and for the whole world.
You are both lucky to have a nice place like this.
Fantastic choice of perspective! It looks as if he's gazing longingly at what's in front of him.
