Luís de Camões

Luís Vaz de Camões (1524-1580) is considered Portugal's greatest poet. He is best remembered for his epic 'Os Lusíadas' (The Lusiads), a fantastic interpretation of the portuguese voyages of discovery during the 15th and 16th centuries, written in the homeric fashion after his return from the Indies.
This bust is one of four at the Poets Cascade, Oeiras Palace gardens

He looks very "Greek." I mean that as a compliment.

I like the angle of this shot, using both distance and perspective.

I have not heard of this poet, but he must have been quite accomplished and a credit to Portugal! I really like the first shot here, with the bust quite clear and sharp and the background lighted so well!

Fantastic choice of perspective! It looks as if he's gazing longingly at what's in front of him.
