We have red bougainvilla bursting with color in our yard in Arizona now. The sad part is that the plant grows so fast, and the flowers bloom the most on the new growth that always needs to be trimmed. I hat to cut off such colorful branches.
Very pretty! Our bougainvilla only bloom in spring as it gets too hot in summer - 109F today - yuck! Oh, I saw a travel show on Portugal that was right in your area - so, so beautiful!

Each year I try to grow one on my Parisian balcony but it never survives ...
