Glass Crate

Most recent monster built on this coast, at Cascais
So close to the ocean, with an amazing view, and there is not a single balcony to enjoy the good weather...

What an amazing design for a building! It does look like glass crates stacked on top of each other. It is a shame that no balconies exist.

I would have guessed that it was around twenty to thirty years old. Sure look a bit on the ugly side in this setting.

Very different! I don't think that I'd like to be a floor or two below the top cubicles because I'm afraid that the shadows would darken the interiors.

Have a nice day! :-)

They could be nice, but not on the coast at Cascais.

Oh, a monster it is!!! Hard to imagine how they could build something like this -- and it is indeed a shame that there are no balconies!! Those are the main things I look for in a hotel and particularly one near a beach! Really sad take on the architecture these days! But a great post nevertheless, JM! Hope your week is off to a great start! Enjoy!

It is very modern and somehow looks out of place. I wonder what was torn down to put up this building.

It almost looks like it might topple over in a strong wind!

While it looks good now, I'm not sure this building will stand the test of time. I think traditional architectural style is the best. Think of all those 1970s monstrosities on the French coastlines. :S

I'm sure that view is amazing, but, well - not my type of architecture, I'm afraid.

@Jarat: That's exactly my point! They have torn down an emblematic hotel from the 60's because of... visual pollution! OK, the hotel looked ugly now, but instead of modernizing it they build this agressive condo that can be seen from everywhere! I have to say the interiors are fabulous and each apartment costs a fortune but all were sold at once! Economic crisis??? What crisis? Definitely not for everyone.

The architect was inspired by Tetris, his childhood favorite game, I am sure.
Here I have recently seen the building inspired by cola can, probably saved the architect from morning hangover.
I love your "Decay" series.

This reminds me of some soviet piece of architecture, but at least that was some decades ago...

This looks like some giant puzzle - you have to figure out how the giant pieces interlock

You're right, no balconies! That's just...a bad idea so close to the water and all.
