The architecture of the Parliament building is classical Greek, there is a Greek flag in the crowd out front. Let's hope solutions can be found for the economies and budgets of Greece, Portugal and other countries.
@Dave: That's exactly why Rome, Madrid and Lisbon had the biggest crowds of protesters, all threatened countries (not to mention Greece, of course, where two more days of general strike have started today).
In the first photo: That's a lot of weaponry! Some people must be frightened. Incompetence, greed and corruption pretty well describes our country, too!
The protesters are now gathering in over 41 cities all over the US and more are joining in every day. Your Parliament sounds like our congress -- Houses of Incompetence, Greed and Corruption indeed!!! Great post and photos, JM!
It is the same all over the world right now -- and while I believe in the concept that we all have something in common, this is not what I meant. Sad. I admire the protestors.

Anywhere between 60.000 and 250.000 people here, depending on the paper you read. Very impressive, whatever the number.
@Rob and Mandy: I've only heard one number, 100.000 people on the streets of Lisbon. However, protests have taken place in 9 other cities too.
Not very many people protesting here.
But that's a Greek flag. Solidarity?

Protests are occurring all over the globe. That's quite a crowd!
