It looks like a mythological figure to me. It sure is not the housekeeper, although they could probably dust the furniture with whatever that is on his head.
I think the helmet might be a clue? I checked both Roman and Spartan helmets, and with the last one I saw many football helmets of various schools. Because of the "plume" I thought it might be ancient Greek or Rome. Interesting problem to solve.

@Kate: I even did a search based on the lion(?) on the chest but didn't get to any conclusion...
Some great warrior.
Yes, that face on the chest is intriguing.
I'll leave myself comfortably at "no clue", but I love the way you caught the contrast of light and shadow.
Lovely sculpture and lovely photo!
look like roman...
It's a gorgeous sculpture no matter who it represents. I did some research but must have mythed it! :-)
Sorry.
Wanted to let you know I deactived my FB account. It was taking too much time!
Lovely lighting in this shot!
Unidentified, but a terrific capture! Interesting that there is so little or no information! Have a great weekend, JM!

Beautifully photographed!
Maybe a military hero from long ago?
But nevertheless beautiful bust with fantastic light.
Wonderful to see... it's a great skill to make one.
I was too thinking Greek or Roman, but I'm far from an authority. Regardless, it think the angle of the sun is great!
I too love the play of light and shadow on the bust. An intriguing mystery I hope you can unravel!
She looks ready for battle.
I think of all of the hard work that went into creating these sculptures ... shame whoever it depicts is unknown.
The only helmeted lady I can remember is Athena, but I have no explanation for the rest of her dress.
