My mind is playing tricks on me... :) I can't remember whether I visited this church or not... Anyway, the views you offer us are great! God bless you! Cezar
We visited here 10 years ago. The entire monastery complex was wonderful. I seem to recall that there was a tomb of a famous person in this church, but I could be wrong and can't remember for sure.
What an intricate ceiling! Your photos of this monastery have always intrigued me so I'm especially happy to get a look inside. Comparing the construction, I'd say the church is part of the monastery.
That stonework just blows me away! It's so hard to imagine how this was accomplished. These images really capture the scale, height, and detail of this architectural marvel.
What a gorgeous, incredible place, JM, and as always your captures are superb! The detail, the columns are amazing! Terrific visit to start my weekend! Thanks as always for sharing the beauty!
These are the churches I adore. Having been a church organist, I can just imagine sitting at the organ and the pipes blasting forth the notes from my favorite hymns. A stunning capture. genie

Wonderful church, the interior is magnificent!
Wow, check out that ceiling, a sort of spider web!!
Je reste sans voix - et sans mots - devant tant de grandeur.

@Dave:
Great memory! :-) Vasco da Gama's and Luis de Camões' tombs are there.
This place looks so huge. An amazing place indeed.

Wow! This is magnificent. I can sometimes understand why people liked to go to church in the old days. ;)

Amazing! Wonderful ceiling!
@Lowell:
The building was severely damaged buy the 1775 earthquake, but it didn't collapse! :-)
The places you show JM, they are so cool! This is gorgeous!
Superb images JM, how on earth did they succeed with such an undertaking so many years ago, even today that would be such a challenging project.
Wow - that is magnificent!
Wonderful! And your shots are great - it is so hard to get details like that lit up nicely.
Fantastic architectural details in that cathedral!
Heavenly!
You're convincing me to go one day to Lisbon.
Well, JM, if they need help dusting this place, I am not going to volunteer!
Wonderful to see...
Magnificent ceiling! I think my neck would be hurting if I was in there for too long just from looking up.
Oh my God that has to be the most beautiful church I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing these shots! Happy Sunday.
When I go to church in places like this I always find myself looking up into the ceiling ... I would sure do it here.
The gothic arches and romanesque windos make a nice melding of styles. A beautiful church indeed.
