How they figured out the engineering and architectural calculations to know that stone Romanesque and Gothic cathedrals would be structurally sound is amazing to me, even in the 21st Century.
So beautiful! Like Dave I'm always amazed at the engineering to build soaring structures like these, old or new. But it's particularly impressive to consider it in an era well before the industrial age.

wow, that's gorgeous!
The light is almost incredible here...
Interessante o efeito que a luz provoca tanto no interior bem como no exterior. Por vezes surpreende. Este tom dourado está fantástico.
Gorgeous golden light. I love that has likely not changed in almost a millenium!
Absolutely gorgeous. If those walls could talk...

What a perfect photo.
And the window is pretty too!:)
Sometimes you outdo even yourself, JM.
The two people make this photo, give it meaning and scale.
Lovely. MB
Love the lighting. Wonderful!
I'm impressed. It's hard to capture that light without washing it out. You are a maestro!
How remarkable to live in a city with something like this not far away.
Wow - beautiful golden light and such an old church!
Again JM, the age of your cathedrals is mind boggling to me. I can only imagine what it must feel like to sit here surrounded by history, fabulous.
Remenber. I think I had spend Chrismass mess there.
But it is long ago.
