Like giant ants:) Beautiful building in the background!

Is this a tribute to the bug population?

Those are some crazy stick figures. They make me think of ants for some reason. Possibly the round bodies and round heads.

Humpty Dumpty eggs? Maybe they are guarding that no one falls into the stairway.

like giant red ants!

The modern art work looks strange in front of the beautiful old building which is a work of art in it's self. I like the way you have composed this.

Yes, they look like ants. A bit like us humans when seen from above!

They really do stand out in such a classic setting!! And you've captured the difference perfectly! Amazing! Hope you have a great week, JM!

Lowell said...

I'm sorry, JM, but I had to laugh! My first reaction was they were Florida cockroaches! But on a closer view, they must be alien immigrants begging the city poohbahs for asylum!

I forgot to ask why you changed the name of your blog from "Lisbon and the Sunshine Coast," to "Lisbon and the Sunny Coast," or was the latter the name all along and I just didn't notice?

Unknown said...

@Lowell: A very pertinent question!
Actually the name of this coast is 'Costa do Sol', which can be translated both ways, but the other day I was checking some vintage touristic posters and realized they all had 'Sunny' instead of 'Sunshine'. So I changed the name to what I think is the official designation in english.

They do look like giant red ants! Fascinating...and I love the building!

(Big grin.) I like it and like the composition. I prefer to think of it as a goofy welcoming party.

They look like giant ladybirds to me, not sure if I like them or not! Diane

That's funny, but suitable on that place ?

That's ominous. A metaphor for contemporary Portugal?

The three sculptures are kind of interesting, but . . . that city hall and plaza . . . GREAT!

Very striking insect-alien-cartoon creations!:) I love the composition.

I love the modern sculpture, and I love the Renaissance architecture of the city hall. But I don't feel they fit well together:)

So nicely composed JM . Interesting to read about the reasons for change in your blog name, I love the idea of the original vintage name.
