So colourful, puts one in the right mood!

The first masks, with the cow bells, could come right out of an Austrian Alpine valley. In fact, I am surprised that most of the masks looks as if created for cooler temperatures. Is there a reason for it?

@Merisi: Actually, many of these traditional masks are from northern regions of Spain and Portugal where winters are very cold.

these costumes are simply amazing. So many styles or looks and so many bright colors. What a fun event this must be. I love how you caught the camera crew in the top shot.

(We have very very cold winter in Finland, but we don't have any traditional like this :)

These masks and costumes are really spectacular. What a lovely array of colors, and the way you have caught them make for such a great series.

I know in Sardinia have traditional masks with bells like the one in the first picture (mamutones), I wonder if these are related in some strange way...

Nice carneval and intersting masks. We have a quite same even in Mohacs in every years. Its name is "busojaras". You can see some photos about it on their official website:
