These drum players from Galicia, Spain, have performed for several hours non-stop. Definitely some of the best I have ever heard. The guys in the middle make amazing sounds using the metal part of a hoe. Fantastic!
JM, I have really enjoyed this series. This must have been fantastic to watch and photograph and in the case of the last photo, to listen to. Such colors and excitement. The guy in the middle shots gives the phrase "handsome devil" a whole new meaning.
What a kick that must have been. Super costumes, although that one in today's post is a bit frightening! Maybe you can get your photos into the international media and drum up some additional tourist business? :)
What a great, colorful, different series this has been indeed, JM! How wonderful to be able to see it all in person!! And the drums and musicians must have been fantastic indeed!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!! Enjoy your weekend!!
Uhhh, the first one is quite formidable. Anyway that's very creative as well. Thanks for sharing this interesting series. Have a great weekend. Greetings.
Incredible incredible captures, I would've loved to have heard the drum players too! I used to work (pre-Princeton) not far from a public park where a drum corp would gather. What great musicians.
Oh. I see some of your politicians showed up for the parade. ;-)
I've LOVED seeing this festival! Great shots. I'd love to see this one in person. It looks like a spectactular event. And that drumming must be a real treat. (Have you heard Japanese taiko drumming?)

I can almost here the drums... and that devil is really enjoying his gig!
This looks like an event not to be missed!
Wow - takes a lot of guts to walk throughout town as the devil.
That first one is scary.
Wonderful images!
