. . . and there is nothing like it when it does happen. One of our cousins bred cacti in the US and sent me some of his seeds. I don't know how viable they are now but would gladly send them to you if you wish.
@Arija: Thank you so much, it's very kind of you, but I don't think I have any more space at the moment! :-)
@Gunn: My father loved gardening and I didn't care at all. Every time he asked me to help him with our garden I did it but I was really bored. Then I went to Africa for the first time in 1973 and I was totally overwhelmed by the tropical flora and the strengh of nature in general. Years later I visited Mexico and fell in love with cacti! :-)
I shall reiterate: You are a floral photographer. These are exquisite blossoms and your photos capture their beauty perfectly. Therefore, it behooves thee (see I can talk funny when I want to) to find the people who want to publish a book of your flower photos. It would make a perfect companion to any coffee table! I'll be the first to buy it!
Superb, awesome captures of such exquisite flowers/colors! You are indeed a great floral photographer, but then you're a great photographer of just about everything I've seen! Always wonderful posts! Thanks for sharing the beauty, JM!! Enjoy your weekend!

We're lucky to these sort of flowers all year round in Malaysia :)
@Duncan: These are cacti blooms. They bloom once a year.

JM, these are dazzling. The pink flowers against the rich red background are extraordinary.
Beautiful blooms.
That first photo needs to be in a garden magazine!
Macro view really helps us see the delicacy and beauty of these flowers.
Magnifica indeed!
The flowers lend themselves beautifully to your talented photography.
So delicate.
