They do look lovely and their fruit has medicinal properties but here in Australia they are a copious weed.

When we lived in Spain, I brought home an entire bag of prickly pears to snack on. (They were selling them real cheap.)

We have prickly pears here in Ocala but I've never seen one that looked like this! Beautiful photo, too!

Oh yes, that absolutely is a beautiful specimen. I don't think I've ever seen one like that with a trunk like a tree!
