Maybe they have been eating too much of that good Portuguese cheese.

What a great angle. I love the echo of the figures in the trees to the right.

That is a great sculpture----very sturdy......

BTW--I almost didn't get the pics on my blog. I clicked the publish button too soon and that is what happened. MB

I'm not much of a Botero fan but I must admit this one looks quite good. The blue sky maybe! ;-)

I still can't decide whether I like Botero's work or not. Very interesting, at least.

Encountering a Botero sculpture in a park is always a delight. I have encountered his work on display in Monaco, Venice, and elsewhere, but I don't remember seeing any of his scultures depicting motherhood like you have in Lisbon.

Usual and interesting sculpture! The little one looks gleeful enough to hop out of mom's lap.

You've shown that gorgeous maze-filled park before...right? Can't imagine how this robust woman and child found their way way up on top of the column!

Wonderful photo, JM.

Great picture, nice lightfall. They do look like they enjoy good food, like Dina mentioned. Or maybe the occasional specialty beer :-)

Our Moderna Museet (yes, that means what you'd guess) had a fascinating Botero exhibition a few years back. I hadn't seen any of his work before.

There is another blogger who has posted a number of Botero sculptures (can't recall who it is, tho); a talented artist.

The original sculpture is located in Oviedo, in the "Plaza Escandalera" and is too popular too.

A escultura original acho que nao e esta, acho que esta e uma réplica da escultura da praça Escandalera de Oviedo. Teriamos de preguntar ao escultor como e que têm dos obras "tao parecidas..." E engraçado..
