This is a charming place. Interesting how Arab architecture is admired in the Western world, as it should be. We have a Moroccan-styled house near us on the beach in Costa Rica, designed by a Costa Rican architect.

I never thought about it, but did the Moors occupy Portugal as well as Spain? What is left is a magnificent legacy. We will never forget our day at the Alhambra.

@Bob: Yes, the Moors accupied the territory in the 8th century. Portugal became a country in the 12th century because our first king expelled them for good then. Their legacy is vast: architecture (many of the castles are still standing), the tile industry, vocabulary, etc.
